Why use Linux: some orientation towards business
  • Rated by lwcary on Apr 12 2009, 7:31am

***** LINUX has often gotten a "bad rap," especially from Redmond, but it deserves a gallant try. if you do not like it, then do not use Linux. You are not doing anybody else a favor by using Linux -- only yourself. GNU/Linux is free, powerful -- and beautiful -- software. Unlike the expensive alternative software, it is FREE to use and experiment with. The "live" feature will not alter anything on your computer. If you do not like it, just remove the free live disk and it all goes away. Or, if you like it, you can install it. Or, like myself, you can have a "dual-boot" system with BOTH systems, Windows AND Linux, installed. (I have a choice at boot-up as to which operating system -- Windows or Linux -- i wish to boot into.) "The Linux Newbie Guide" is just that: a excellent guide to help Linux beginners "get their feet wet." Linux is a much smaller, faster, and efficient operating system than its bloated alternative. (THAT'S why Redmond and those who are "locked into" widows give Linux a bad reap -- it eats into their profit$.) Also, it is virtually FREE from viruses and almost NEVER crashes. Try it, you'll like it. ;^) As a positive suggestion, go to www.ubuntu.com. *****
