almeister rated 10 months ago- What flat taxes offer is a sense of justice. Taxing solely on consumption works for me, but it may be hard on a skiddish economy at first.

booyah2005 rated 10 months ago- Couldn't agree with ya more Carlosbob. The conservative media machine is in overdrive. The slick marketing campaign is using classic persuasion techniques to convince working people that a regressive tax scheme is actually in their interest. The campaign is also attempting to persuade us that the progressive tax system is overly complex and suggest that as a result we should scrap the entire concept of redistributing wealth. Also connected to this media campaign is the fact that our laws currently give economic elites additional influence over our political process. Capitalism promotes the exploitation of labor so the boss can earn a greater profit. The value extracted from labor is not shared in ways that meet labors' own self-interest. So not only do promoters of this new tax scheme use media manipulation to build support for it, they also are trying to convince the majority of Americans, who are living paycheck to paycheck, that this new tax plan is also in their economic interests as well. This is but one example of the class warfare waged upon working people every day in this country. Take a minute to think about this issue and recognize that the progressive tax system is bloated and complex not because of people like you and me who fill out a 1040 form. It's the capitalists themselves who have used their political influence to create tax loopholes and credits that overly inflate the tax code. Now we must expose this duplicity and demand an income tax system that achieves its function, which is to redistribute the wealth of this nation to the hands of those who actually created it.

nez46 rated 12 months ago- Don't be fooled by this crock of crapola - this tax method greatly impacts those least able to afford it and is far more unfair than "fair."

DigitalR rated 12 months ago- Load of rubbish.

dyankee23 rated 12 months ago- Oh, goody. The flat tax. Because rich people still pay too much. Fuckers.

neophile rated 12 months ago- Vile. Read the fine print. Removes taxes on essentials "up to the poverty level." Awesome. That's $19,350 for a family of four as of 2005. Lot of incentive to break out of poverty, eh? Meanwhile, it dumps corporate income tax, capital gains, and the estate tax, which only affects estates over $2mil. Not to mention it pretty dramatically defunds the government. Just another faux-populist swindle to bone the middle class.

uburoi rated 12 months ago- Interesting idea on taxes
