From the page: "Krill oil research One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlledstudy included 90 people who have cardiovascular disease and/or arthritis. The investigators found that the participants who took 300 mg of krill oil for 7 to 14 days experienced significantly reduced inflammation and symptoms of arthritis. In another similarly formulated study, researchers found that 500 mg of krill oil daily was significantly effective for long-term regulation of lipids (fats) in the blood of people with hyperlipidemia (high levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, and other lipids). In a third study (2008), krill oil appeared to inhibit colon cancer cell growth. Taking krill oil Krill oil is available in capsules and can be found in health food stores and online. Consult your health-care provider before using this supplement. If you have allergies to seafood or if you have a bleeding disorder, you should not take krill oil. Krill oil should be used with caution if you take blood thinners such as aspirin or warfarin; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen; or herbs and supplements that increase the risk of bleeding, such as garlic and ginkgo biloba. Side effects may include diarrhea, indigestion, or loose stools. If you are bothered by the fishy odor or burp associated with taking fish oil supplements, you will not encounter these problems with krill oil. If you are weight conscious, fish oil contains about 160 calories per tablespoon, while two capsules (a typical dose) of krill oil contains about 10 calories."

From the page: "The structure of krill oil has an advantage in that attached to the EPA segment is a molecule of astaxanthin, a very potent antioxidant. Antioxidants are critical in fighting free radicals, which are responsible for a wide variety of health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, infections, and macular degeneration. The unique structure of krill oil also makes it much more absorbable by the body and thus more effective." There's also less mercury in krill oil.
