Learning to implement "nofollow" tags is fairly easy. Learning how to apply them in the proper way does require some skill. This post was created in order to educate the average webmaster, or website owner, on what "nofollow" tags can do for your site.

Google's Matt Cutts precise words were: The nofollow attribute is just a mechanism that gives webmasters the ability to modify PageRank flow at link-level granularity. Plenty of other mechanisms would also work (e.g. a link through a page that is robot.txt'ed out), but nofollow on individual links is simpler for some folks to use. There's no stigma to using nofollow, even on your own internal links; for Google, nofollow'ed links are dropped out of our link graph; we don't even use such links for discovery. By the way, the nofollow meta tag does that same thing, but at a page level.

This is stupid. Google likes large (but not repeating) sites. By nofollowing this you just hurt yourself.

"SEO Juice" ?!?!? Give me a fragging break! The nofollow attribute is not meant for blocking access to content or preventing content to be indexed by search engines. The proper methods to control search engine spiders are robots.txt for restricting access on a page (or directory) and Meta tags that are designed to specify what a spider should or should not do with the content of the crawled page. Also, don't let the name fool you. Most major search engines still follow the links. And while some won't index the pages, others will.

nofollow kills the internet and your sites importance to. if you have to use nofollow on links, why bother placing them in the first place. another post from some one who calls himself seo, but doesn't even understand the basics. As a reaction on my negative review, Seosurvivor fellt the need to mail me and try to convince me of his truth. As he was not capable of convincing me and never will, he thought he had to call me arrogant and stuck in a bubble. Fact is , using nofollow on links to distribute link juice is a dumb action. But hey, don't take my word for it. Go ahead and nock yourself out. As a reaction to a conversation per mail, this guy calls me arrogant and then reviews my blog like this: ----- Toontje... I tried having a good conversation with this guy, but he's a troll. Rude and disrespectful from the start. ---- LOL I was right wasn't i SEOsurvivor, you let your character shine throught dont you...

What is no follow tags and what it can do for your site.

Very understandable with the use of excellent diagrams. Pictures really help. I use nofollow for the same purpose. Danny
