I saw this site linked on a couple of other stumblogs, but they had chosen Germany for the example. I chose Bhutan because, it's one of the cheapest, while still looking like good eating (as opposed to the Chad refugees, who seem to be eating VERY lightly). Also, Bhutan has been in the news... more

I saw this a long time ago, but think it's worth a rerun. I'll post only the most expensive and least expensive examples of what the page shows to be a comparison of food costs and diets around the world. There are other interesting examples on the site. Germany - $500 a week for food Breidjing Camp - $1.23 a week for food

"[...]Apparently it's cheaper to eat on the West Coast of the U.S.A than the East Coast. See North Carolina[...]"Did you happen to notice the junk food and pizzas that the family in NC purchases?! Of COURSE that costs more!I've lived in CA, TX, and MO and I find that it has fluctuated very little for me (unless you're going for specialty items or products out of season). Also I've stumbled this a long while back and that version was much better and (from what I understand) didn't plagiarize.

As we all start to tighten the belt a little in these tough economic times lets still be grateful for what we have. Click the pic and see what families around the world are living on. I for one am thankful I live in Florida and have a job at a successful university.

Fascinating photos demonstrating what people from all around the world eat in a week and how much they pay for their food. This Chinese family's food looks delicious and quite healthy in my opinion, so I wouldn't mind eating like this for a week. On the other hand, seeing all the processed junk Americans eat wasn't a surprise at all. I guess one of those pizzas contains more calories than what the Sudanese refugee family consumes in a week!

Interesting comparison study on how much we spend on food each week from region to region.

What Sudanese refugees eat in a week....we in the US have nothing to complain about and perhaps quite a lot to explain.
