The hottest temperature was in excess of 40C (can't remember exact temp) and was recoded at Heathrow airport, think they got the date right. London has a population of about 7 million as far as myself and the Mayor of London are concerned. As for how we justify not having armed police everywhere, it's really very simple, there are far fewer guns here, and far fewer people getting shot than in countries with different approaches to gun control. Quite a simple equation really.

Those are the most interesting facts about England they could come up with? According to the Met Office, the highest temperature quoted is correct... but seriously, who cares?

What a bunch of absolute fucking crap. "British police do not carry guns except in emergencies." How do you justify something like that? 2 policemen walking down the street, they get an urgent message relating to a possible terror threat: "Oh shit, we best get there!" "Wait, we have to first travel back to the station to get our guns!" "Among the three ghosts said to haunt Athelhampton House, one of them is an ape." ...also, what the FUCK is that?

Random, ill-expressed and possibly incorrect information about Great Britain. By the way, tommyhaych, in the extremely unlikely event of a "possible terror threat" SUDDENLY being reported to the constabulary, they don't just radio in the nearest beat bobbies! I expect that if the Home Office felt the need to justify their firearms policy to you, the gun crime statistics would do so eloquently.
