    As someone who's currently studying Japanese, I have GOT to laugh at the truthfulness. It is a language ass-kicking at its finest.

    This made me laugh. I agree that it is hard to learn, but really once you get past the hiragana and katakana (same sounds, different symbols is all) it is not that hard I believe. Just gradually learn kanji from the simpler to the more complicated, and yes the kanji does get ridiculous at times, but it is not always complicated. I admit taking a course instead of the "teach yourself" method is a bit easier, but why not take an official course in the first place? Personally I am considering becoming a Japanese major and I love it!

    Eh. I agree with the basic premise; Japanese is a bitch to learn. But once the author all but confessed he was too stupid to understand a syllabary, humor died out. It could have been funny, if only the author spoke as if he knew what the hell he was talking about. Honestly, it seems much less like a humorous observation piece, and more like someone failed a class. For an INFINITELY funnier approach to why Japanese is a bitch, read Tokyo Damage Report's article comparing Japanese verbs to Gundam.
