- Regardless of the drama revolving around this article and whether it is a secular/religious holiday, I thought there were several positive points mentioned that can translate throughout all religious holidays for people who may not believe in religion.
F3nr1L rated 11 months ago- THANKSGIVING IS A SECULAR HOLIDAY ALREADY
Freemanhasaposse rated 11 months ago- What the hell does religion have to do with Thanksgiving? You have a secular Thanksgiving by pointing out that Thanksgiving is a secular holiday.
megatrout rated 11 months ago- I thanked epicurious.com for the excellent stuffing recipe.

ryuhaka rated 11 months ago- Stop being stupid, many ppl consider thanksgiving as a religious holiday and many atheist find themselves at these theist dinner tables. Fortunately I am not one of them. Great essay showing how people work for things not God.
GeneralGao rated 11 months ago- Thanksgiving isn't a religious holiday
decembriel rated 11 months ago- From the page: "So, if you don't believe in God, what do you do on Thanksgiving? I have heard that question a few times. Over the years I have developed an answer, of course, but I have never written it down. It has served me well in those moments at mixed atheistic / theistic table when some of those gathered have looked at me to participate in the ritual thanking that believers seem to require or even to say grace. It may not be possible, or polite, to disrupt the flow of Thanksgiving if you are a guest, but perhaps these suggestions will give you a silent way to secularize your Thanksgiving."

- Umm...Thanksgiving isn't a religious holiday to begin with. Or, it's about as religious as Halloween.
kdfrawg rated 11 months ago- One way to have a secular Thanksgiving...
My goodness, who ever told these thumbs-down people that this was a secular holiday? Just whom do you suppose is supposed to get thanked? Take a look, as an example, at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving
paying special attention to the parts that read like this, in a description of the ceremony in 1619:
The group's charter required that the day of arrival be observed yearly as a "day of thanksgiving" to God. On that first day, Captain John Woodleaf held the service of thanksgiving. Here is the section of the Charter of Berkeley Hundred which specifies the thanksgiving service:
"Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God."
