dodgecharger rated 5 months ago- Some excellent examples of various economic principles. Great for a high school economics class. Reply to poster below: photo #3 refers to the photo of the delivery truck, which is an example of economies of scale. The opportunity cost explanation is for photo #2, which is the shack on the oceanfront property. It's opportunity cost because most people would not enjoy living in that shack; they would likely sell the valuable property and live in nicer conditions elsewhere. They are forgoing the opportunity to live well to live in a shack on the beach.

- What's with photo #3 illustrating "Opportunity cost"? It doesn't explain opportunity cost at all, and neither does the explanation below it!

- Connects economics concepts to common sense. However, the last example (#17) is bad because it assumes that we rubberneck for our own gratification rather than from a sense that we could help someone who is in trouble.

- What's wrong with this picture:
An interesting look at how economic principles apply in unexpected situations. For example: Why superman should never waste time saving a kitten (although he may do so as Clark Kent for a different set of reasons then he'd save a human as Superman)

- These pictures are a great way to allow students at a basic level to grasp concepts of economics without directly explaining them. Critical thinking is something severely lacking in our education system today.
