- A lobby of environmentalists, auto industry workers, and dealers trying to get legislation in place to get the US to a 35 mpg AVERAGE for vehicles by 2020. The auto and oil industries say it would be impossible and financially ruinous - ignoring the fact that Europe and Japan already reach this rather low standard.

- Sadly enough... This was also a promise of the Clinton campaign, until one by one the standards were lowered excluding SUV's etc until it was done away with altogether... Kinda reminds me of National Health Care...

- 35MPG by 2020. Is the really the metric of success... we are fighting for this? We should be shooting for above 60 MPG by 2020, and a 20% reduction in single occupancy transportation brought about by improved infrastructure.
