lump1 discovered 47 months ago- Jonathan Bennett is an excellent historian of philosophy and a dedicated teacher. This site has his clear "tranlations" of early modern philosophers (even those who wrote in English), which are very useful to undergraduates who are put off by the onerous originals. Seriously, take a few minutes and read this stuff. The quantity of work on these readings is amazing, and the quality is really quite good.

- Umm. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. He says "My versions are faithful to the content of the originals, but are plainer and more straightforward in manner." and goes on to discuss how students don't get it. Well, if they don't get it, that doesn't mean it needs to be pre-chewed and partially digested for them. Maybe the student needs to go back and work on it, because if it's worth getting, than it's worth working to get it. Nobody ever shortened the distance across the English Channel to make it easier to swim across, nobody ever built an elevator to the top of Mt. Everest. Forget it, I'm ranting.

- indispensible!

WaitingforGodot rated 39 months ago- This is a brilliant idea, and it looks like he pulls it off well. Purists may shriek in horror, but at long last, Kant can be read in less than twenty minutes per paragraph.
If you've been put off by dense and archaic texts, and are curious about philosophers like Descartes, Kant and Spinoza, you should definitely look through this site.
"hat tip" to Volokh Conspiracy for the link. :)- This is a brilliant idea, and it looks like he pulls it off well. Purists may shriek in horror, but at long last, Kant can be read in less than twenty minutes per paragraph.
