crossone rated 3 months ago- Some great quotes here. Worth a careful study.
When asked why I was going to be taking a concealed weapon permit course, and purchase my first handgun, I answered, "Because Barack Obama is opposed to it." My answer was a poor attempt at humor, but then, I saw a bit of wisdom in it.

Most of the stuff flowing from the mouth Obama is ungodly, liberal garbage. So when he recently said that one of his first jobs, should he make it to the White House, would be to ban the citizens right to bear arms, I just knew that making the 2nd Amendment a personal reality was something that I must do quickly.

NovaNardis rated 4 months ago- Erm. The world of 1776, and how they viewed weapons, was vastly different than today. See, Jefferon, Thomas: http://etext.virginia.edu/jefferson/quotations/jeff1480.htm.People were supposed to bear arms because the citizens, each and every one, was a potential member of the military. That's different now. And the difference is crucial to understanding the legitimate debate about the 2nd Amendment.

sequence: "From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great
courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance
to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From
dependence back into bondage."
~Alexander Fraser Tytler"
epeefencer rated 4 months ago- From the page: ""Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we
shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no
power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement
of the soldier, are the birthright of an American ... The unlimited power of
the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but
where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People."
~Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788."
