I liked the motto, "talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does". This is addressing the problem that advertisers are using our own short-comings about our self-conciousness to sell us things that we don't want. Public Enemy had a very poignant track on "Rebirth of a Nation" called "Plastic Nation". It think these types of media conversations with the panderers and profiteers and media buyers of the industry are good. After all they are people making decisions and the people that make this video make a very strong point that those decision makers need to keep in mind. It's good to know that there are people in UNILEVER that have got to decision making positions where they can use company money to put this message in people's minds. I think all for-profit corporations that grow to more than a few 100 people become corrupt and in some sense "pyschopathic" in their obligation to make profits. The question is now that they have this self-awareness are they actually going create change beyond the "tax deductiable" PSA

Pure and simple marketing. Good marketing, but marketing nonetheless. Yes, it conveys the right message, but it does not subscribe to it. Dove is part of the "beauty industry" waiting to talk to your child AND this commercial was more than likely funded by the millions of children consuming UNILEVER products.

And let's not even go to the AXE issue anymore, since DIGITS already did it. That one really upsets the feminist in me.

Oh, and last time I checked, UNILEVER products (such as Dove, Axe, Suave, etc.) were still being tested on animals.

Look for consistency when dealing with big corporations such as this one. More often than not you will NOT be able to find it.

From the page: "Following the success of the award winning Dove Evolution video, part of Doveâ€s Campaign for Real Beauty, Dove is now launching the follow up: Onslaught. Itâ€s a short film featuring a young girl being bombarded with hundreds of images of female perfection, drawing attention to the need for a wider definition of beauty in society." This is a wonderful campaign!

Thank god someone is stepping up... where the fashion industry has failed! I'm a teacher and I see the effects of poor self image on young girls and, It is very sad. These little girls are dancing like strippers and think its ok not to eat there lunches because they don't want to gain weight?!?!?!?! They dont understand that they must eat to grow healthy. Its really sad! P.S. Curves are HOT!

This is a good message even though the messenger is corrupt. Dove is owned by Unilever who also markets those tasteless and sexist Axe commercials [here is one] that I have yet to see - give women *any* credit. So...the bottom line for me is trust the message but not the messenger. Dove is as corrupt as the rest of the companies whose #1 priority is to make money. Don't get it twisted ladies! :)
