Teenager fed up with Hollywood stereotypes of
"poor disabled people" makes a short video
suggesting a new approach and concludes:

"Come on, Hollywood. Thumbs down to pity."

Wins Film Your Issue award, plus a lot of respect.
Yes, he's articulate, smart and gutsy.

Tks Imorgen for this find.

Personally I don't go for the aggressively sporty
climb-Mt-Everest stereoype of the blind and wheelchair-bound
either, since it is obsessive; and perhaps a result
of tunnel-vision coaching and a macho
 over-reaction to limitations.

A little wallowing  is perfectly reasonable and
understandable in anyone, whatever the circumstances,
provided it doesn't poison your whole personality.

But being patronised is insulting and
 chronic self-pity is crippling.
