Thanatossassin rated 10 months ago- saying mega pixels aren't important is unwarranted, better to advise a minimum for beginning photography. Yeah, small digital cameras are nice, and my lady carries a canon elph IS700 everywhere, but no comparison to the control of your shot taken with an slr.

LeonardoDaVinci rated 11 months ago- What I'm going to do is save this one for reading later, then come back an change my post to complain about all the points I disagree with. FYI!

- I'm not so sure this is a very good list. It's a good start for a beginner, I guess, but even beginners should be told what separates a basic digital camera from a great digital camera. Hint: it's not megapixels or cost. Try reading independent reviews and compare pictures taken with one camera vs another. They all pretty much have the same features, but higher quality components will make a noticeable difference. For one thing, make sure you get a very high quality lens. That's a hell of a lot more important than the resolution.
