Born in Guanajuato Mexico, in 1892 he moved to Mexico City with his family. He studied in the San Carlos Academy and in the carving workshop of artist José Guadalupe Posada, whose influence was decisive.

The man looked like a toad. His wife needed a pluck and wax job on her unibrow. Other than that, I guess it is okay.

Today is the anniversary of Diego Rivera's birth in 1886 (via). I saw these murals in 2003 and they are incredible in how they detail the history of the Mexican people. Diego Rivera was an activist extraordinaire and I feel fortunate to have seen this work.
