From the page: "When you hear a report on tv or the radio about the obesity epidemic, question where they got their information from. The American study that is so oft quoted figured the number of deaths from obesity at 400,000 but unfortunately none of the media agencies pulled their flailing arms out of the air "

"Loving yourself" should not mean 'settling'; it should not mean accepting every fault; it should not mean affirming yourself or "telling yourself you are awesome" or feeding your ego. Loving yourself should mean treating yourself with respect and being responsible for you - which means not allowing yourself to do questionable stuff. Loving yourself means being tough. It means making yourself eat right so you will live longer. It means not being a drunk or a chain -smoker or a dopehead for the same reason. It means having the will power and self-discipline to pick up the dirty socks and wet towels and get them to the laundry room, to brush your teeth after you eat, to take your vitamins, to study for that exam instead of screwing around with your buddies. Loving yourself means not giving in to every whim, not piling on the extra whipped cream, not driving too fast ... basically it means not allowing yourself to act like an irresponsible adolescent - or worse - a six-year-old. "If it feels good do it" is not the mantra of a person who truly loves themself. Sorry. I've never had patience with the "I'm OK You're OK" BS.
