a great bit of advice from David Airy, how he got Google to reverse a penalty that had been placed on his site as the result holding a contest.

This graph is a visual representation of how much power Google wields. Would you really apply the words "Black Hat SEO" to this blogger - or to any other Web site owner who ends up in that boat? From the page: "Yesterday, through a large increase in visitor numbers to my website, I discovered that my Google penalty has been lifted. In this article, I'm going to tell you why I was penalised by Google, what I did to have the penalty removed, and how you can avoid a similar penalty for your website / blog. Last month, I asked for advice regarding a huge drop in my Google search rankings. For around six months prior to the drop, I ranked at #1 when searching for my name, David Airey. The penalty imposed on my website dropped this position from #1 to around #70 and I also lost rankings for a host of graphic design-related terms, making me a lot less findable."

Blogger got banned for using black hat seo and paid links. This is a testimonial on how to get your blog reinstated in Google and a warning on what NOT to do.

If getting relevant links to your site with good anchor text and finding relevant advertisers is "black hat SEO", then Google has finally crossed the line from "Do No Evil" to "We are Big Brother".

From the page: "3 steps to avoid a Google penalty * Don't participate in any form of black hat SEO * Add the rel="¯nofollow" tag to any paid links on your website * Be careful not to link to bad neighbourhoods"... Great article David...thanks so much for sharing!

Black hat SEO David Airey's site has been purged and Google showed mercy. Thanks Google he is back on track again. Text link ads are evil! Don't use them at home kids!
