DailyTech - IBM Proposes One Computer to Run Entire Internet
stevegparker rated 5 months ago
Shows a clear lack of understanding of the meaning of clustering, DR, HA, etc. Let alone the fact that the hosting of "the internet" under IBM would not make it the internet at all; a global, intercoordinated yet non-hierarchical system, all under the control of IBM? I'm not sure that Japan, Germany, Iran, etc etc... would agree that it amounts to the same thing.

From page: "IBM launched an Epic project with an almost unfathomable goal -- to develop a single supercomputer capable of running the entire internet as a web application. The project, codenamed Kittyhawk (detailed in a white paper by IBM) created quite the stir in internet technology community."

One company with power to control the entire internet? There goes net neutrality. IBM can kiss my ass.
