    11. Install Gentoo. Hey, somebody had to say it. :p As much as people here apparently have no love for Acroread, I have to wonder what the fuss is about. Acroread on Windows is a sluggish monstrosity but I find it works fine and even a bit snappy on Linux. I mostly switch between the Linux Acroread and Foxit in WINE.

    Why do these 10 tasks need to be done *immediately* after installing Ubuntu? What about the hour or so of updating that you have to do? Or--if you're new to GNU/Linux--what about learning how to do things more efficiently from the command line? Or maybe install Debian?

    No. Acrobat Reader? Evince is better and works for almost all cases. ubuntu-restricted-extras covers several others.
