- It turns out that Pangea, the answer to the continental jigsaw puzzle, has pieces missing. And some of them are backwards, too. I'm going to pontificate a little bit here about what this means. It means one of two things - that geologists haven't correctly mapped Pangea, or that giant continent-sized landmasses have the ability to rise or sink beneath the ocean in ways that geologists have not foreseen or can explain.
