An object lesson that digging a bit deeper will often reveal a completely different picture. On first glance, this seems a fairly straight, if not a little dull, list of the seven ancient wonders of the world. However the (rather prominant) links at the bottom of the page give the true game away. I don't think I'm the only one who's mental alarm bells start ringing when I read stuff like 'Psychic Readings with Elle' and '2012 The Alchemy of Time'. Finally the penny drops when you realise the site is called Crystalinks. This is merely one bit (and the only sane one at that) of something far more bonkers. Just for the hell of it, I clicked through to the site home page. Oh dear, oh dear... FOOTNOTE: I can't let this go with further mention of '2012 The Alchemy of Time', which turns out to be the site owner's (the unlikely named Ellie Crystal) first (and please god, only) novel. The synopsis gives some idea of what it probably an (unintentional) comic masterpiece: In the year 2012, Sarah Manning races against time to fulfill a prophecy set in motion by her ancient ancestors, the Guardians of the Seed. Connected to the ancient mystery schools, this epoch adventure, spanning 72 years, and crossing 3 continents, explains the foundations of reality, and the prophecies of time. In essence, the story of Sarah and Alexander is the esoteric history of the human race. There's more, but by this point I was in danger of rupturing myself, and I don't want to same misfortune to befall your good selves. However you have to read the final line, which is both comic and tragic in it's misplaced optimisim: The screenplay adaptation of the book, titled 2012, The Alchemy of Time is waiting to be discovered by the right producer. We all wish her luck, don't we?
