As a store manager for a very large premier agent, I can tell you that some of these are just not true and some of these are not secrets. They are also typical of the bullish and often times poor attitude of the corporate store employees.

I think this is probably about half and half bullshit and real. But SuperGluzie down there, with the "my salesperson's undivided attention is the least of my expectations" is all bullshit. Great for you for having good expectations, but your expectations won't change the way the world works. Nothing personal - it just seems like, especially here in America, everyone thinks that they're entitled to things they way they OUGHT to be, and anything else is an affront to their dignity as a human being. Things are as they are. Deal. Learn to make the best of it.

This is idiotic. #1: Insurance IS NOT A RIP-OFF. Let's say you get a Voyager, and paid about $150 for it. Break it? $410 to replace without insurance. Never get a high-end phone without it--you never know what will happen. #2: I'm not sure what district this rep is from, but no way in hell are Verizon reps this lenient about manager overrides. Maybe it varies by region, who knows; manager overrides are for exceptions in extreme circumstances, not to make sales. #3: What's the point of doing a one-year contract instead of two? The one-year price is startlingly close to full retail price. If you want a new phone after 10 months, you'd honestly be better off getting a two-year contract in the first place and buying a phone at full retail after 10 months. Look: Verizon is a good company. They're out to make money, but in this business, you get what you pay for. Be aware of what reps are graded on: activations, accessories, and data features. When you buy a phone with nothing attached, you hurt the store. They're not greedy, they're trying to meet their quotas. If you're going to be stingy, buy online. Now, to specifically address SuperGluzie: Please don't take that attitude into a store with you. Verizon reps are people too, and if you're stuck up, you will be exacting the bare minimum that store reps will provide to you (which might be great, who knows). Be courteous and friendly, and it goes a long way to getting that behavior reciprocated.

"The only benefit to a 2 yr contract is a $50 savings on your phone. Its not worth it. Take the $50 and get a 1 year then you can upgrade to a new phone every 10 months."

Comments like "if you don't do ___, the store rep won't be as motivated to help you" are really upsetting to me. If a salesperson does not provide excellent customer service, they are not doing their job. I, the consumer, should not need a series of special tips and tricks to get his or her attention. My salesperson's undivided attention is the least of my expectations.
