eniac2000 rated 5 months ago- STOP!
...and think about this for 1 second: There are NO facts whatsoever, just feelings and fears and a lack of supporting evidence!
"A political appointee at my agency prevented my research on all-terrain-vehicle safety from reaching the public, even when deaths and injuries occurred," she said." - OK, now I'm convinced! Guess this person didn't contact a personal injury attorney, they might have listened
I mean, c'mon - you don't go to commondreams.org for fair and balanced reporting. "Progressive community" is leftspeak for 'Socialist'.
Please, if just for a laugh, watch this video then decide weather or not you want our governments to cough up trillions of $$$ (i.e. taxpayer money) to help Gore, China, Chavez and The World Workers Party save the world by uniting all our 'dreams':

kaamran rated 5 months ago- From the page: "Leading U.S. scientists called on Congress Thursday to make sure the next president does not do what they say the George W. Bush Administration has done: censor, suppress and falsify important environmental and health research."

ThisIsNotKasker rated 5 months ago- This is ludicrous. What is wrong with people? It is frustrating that there is no easy way to handle this situation. All the pricks with the power will continue to use their bundles of money to ensure the money keeps coming, and worse, at the expense of all the people they steal this money from.

... But interference from the White House is just part of the problem, said Francesca Grifo, a former government researcher and now a director at the Union of Concerned Scientists. Industry lobbyists are all over government agencies, trying to influence research that will impact their corporations, she said. "These special interest groups are being given access at the highest level."- From the page:

Yoza rated 5 months ago- It is always a worry when scientists and the research community generally need to turn to activism to have their findings accepted. The current Bush regime has a growing record of undermining scientific research which does not conform to its idealogical agenda. It is appalling that science should be held hostage by religious fundamentalists or the threat it poses to corporate profit margins.

FAIRYUSER rated 5 months ago- "Serious consequences can result when drug safety decisions are not based on the best available scientific advice from staff scientists and experts," she said.

Wood resigned her post in 2005 in protest over the FDAâ€s delay in getting emergency, over-the-counter birth control onto the market."

shell42970 rated 5 months ago- From the page: "No fewer than 1,191 scientists employed at nine federal agencies have reported to the group that they fear retaliation from their superiors because the results of their research are threatening to corporate or other interests..."
This isn't surprising, given so much of the other bullshit that's taken place under the current administration, but it is disgraceful nonetheless.
Funding has been cut, and results have been either made up or censored in research surrounding climate change, birth control, endangered species protection, consumer safety, and agriculture.- From the page: "No fewer than 1,191 scientists employed at nine federal agencies have reported to the group that they fear retaliation from their superiors because the results of their research are threatening to corporate or other interests..."
