"Bullard, the plate's sponsor, isn't sure all groups should be able to express their preference. If atheists came up with an "I Don't Believe" plate, for example, he would probably oppose it." What an asshole. Tesla- I could definitely go for some FSM on my license plate, actually.

TurtleSoupage rated 3 months ago- Upon learning that reality was created and is controlled by an omnipresent being who shall determine our eternal fate based on our actions here, the first thought that entered my mind was... "I should get that on a license plate." and not just so all my fellow cult members would nod approvingly at stoplights when they pull up behind me, but because that's what Jesus would do.

Writtenin rated 3 months ago- A disturbing possibility

- From the page: "Bullard, the plate's sponsor, isn't sure all groups should be able to express their preference. If atheists came up with an "I Don't Believe" plate, for example, he would probably oppose it." Big surprise that this bigot wants special treatment but would deny others the same opportunity. I actually see no problem with christian license plates as long as other alternatives are made available. With modern methods I can't see the cost of a self designed plate being that much in an efficient system. The only thing stopping personal plates is laziness much like credit cards with chosen images and a portrait. Why is that not the standard rather than unusual?

anneliese rated 3 months ago- From the page: "Florida drivers can order more than 100 specialty license plates celebrating everything from manatees to the Miami Heat, but one now under consideration would be the first in the nation to explicitly promote a specific religion. The Florida Legislature is considering a specialty plate with a design that includes a Christian cross, a stained-glass window and the words "I Believe."" Hooboy! More silliness from the imaginary friend crowd.

Noremacam rated 3 months ago- I wasn't aware that giving the "choice" of a christian symbol on a license plate equal an endorsement.

- I say anyone who can scrap together enough people who want the plate to make it financially worthwhile for the state to produce it should be able to get one. You really think there are going to be thousand of KKK members dying to get their hands on a white pride plate?

DeepSkyFrontier rated 3 months ago- Actually, this is something protected by the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution and is the basis of freedom. Both the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion come into play here. The separation clause is a pathetically weak argument in light of the fact that there are already around a 100 different varieties of vanity plates in existence. The law is more rational than that, and if it fails to be rational, it is not longer the law. Religion is definable- according to conviction, for instance- and observed as a legitimate concept under the law (WISCONSIN v. YODER ET AL.) FSM is a piece of religious satire, and is only protected under free speech. I guarantee you that, if it were needful, I would find hundreds of thousands of psychologically normal people willing to die for their religious convictions (the same that live for them, whether they be Christian or otherwise). The ACLU is an enemy of all of them. The ACLU is lucky that Christians follow Christ, because if they didn't, it would be the second amendment they'd be arguing to abolish. Wait a few years. This is only going to get more dangerous. Oh, and if you want to argue that religious conviction is, by definition, psychologically abnormal, I can guarantee you that you wouldn't be able to live in a "normal" world.
