You'd have thought you were watching FOX News to hear the CNN analysis of Senator Obama's speech today. CNN's analysis was tin-eared in the extreme...I am not at all a fan of Senator Obama, but so many of his remarks were clearly aimed at Blitzer and his mindless cronies, it's hard to believe they entirely missed them. The media elite, who deem it there job to interpret every speech within the narrow confines of "political tactics" and to then explain them to "we who are clueless" puffing themselves up to prognosticate on whether they think it will hit or miss has their choice clearly spelled out as well...join the future or keep behaving like mindless dolts. Senator Obama just challenged us all, CNN included, to reject that old paradigm of politics and analysis and move forward, together. I guess this speech answers any questions about Obama's courage and ability to stand up to world leaders or hostile situations...this was an incredibly courageous speech, delivered in incredibly risky words. He took on his critics face forward, without rhetorically flinching, without pandering or ducking. He called spades spades without excusing. He explained with our boring, he forgave without excusing. He allowed complexities to remain complex and subtleties to remain subtle, yet distilled and synthesized without insulting our intelligence. I am not an Obama supporter by any means, but you would have to be a dolt or hopelessly locked-in philosophically not to admire this speech. It's too bad this speech was entirely over the heads of CNN's political reporters...which, though reputedly are "the best team on television", are still not very good, apparently.

Good speech, but it doesn't convince me because pretty much whenever Obama gets into trouble, he just conjures up some fancy speech to try to woo people.
