Retr0rob discovered 8 months ago- This was my first computer! Amazing how the history of computers taught in classrooms totally ignores one of the most influential computer companies ever. There are some inaccuracies in the story -- The C-64 was actually known for having BETTER graphics capabilities than Apple or Atari -- The average apple at the time was green screen - even the color models only had 4 colors to Commodores 16 color pallet. They story is dead-on on the hard drive tho -- I used to go make lunch while waiting for that sucker to load a lousy 32k program. Still. I loved the heck out of the thing. I think I kept it for like 8 years.. A pretty good bang for the buck considering I go through laptops every year or so now.

shewitt-au rated 7 months ago- From the page: "Commodore 64 still loved after all these years"

playermatt rated 7 months ago- Only the best computer ever designed, with the possible exception of the Amiga.

stephenhazel rated 7 months ago- wrote my text editor on this baby in college in 6510 asm. I had a zx81 before this thing, but, ehhm, you couldn't do much on that even in asm. But, then that beatiful Amiga came along. It sure was hard to just dump all that 6510 asm I'd written. But the amiga was better. ya gotta admit. Then i became assimilated. clone city. I tried apple, really i did... but, well, it's been nothin but whinders since.

FreqWiz rated 7 months ago- Like a first love or a first car, a first computer can hold a special place in people's hearts. For millions of kids who grew up in the 1980s, that first computer was the Commodore 64. Twenty-five years later, that first brush with computer addiction is as strong as ever.

- Yeah, and hey, why don't we just stop cooking meat too. I'm nostalgic for E. coli.
