Classic bands has put together a pretty decent rock-history site. Light on imagery, long on textual details. 50s 60s 70s. Here, for example, you can learn where Jimi *first* set his guitar afire. Here that "Walk Away Renee", was written by Michael Brown when he was only sixteen years old. And here is a week-by-week rock calendar. Did you know, for example, that on March 24 1963, The Beatles were the opening act for American Pop stars Chris Montez and Tommy Roe? Or that Pete Best appeared on 'I've Got A Secret'? Good stuff!
