mirandatangerine discovered 10 months ago- Babies start learning languages at 3 days

Livtay rated 10 months ago- Articles about foreign language learning.

Reea rated 10 months ago- "If you are bilingual, even better if you are bilingual from childhood, more and more research is supporting the theory that your bilingual abilities will delay or even prevent dementia. The idea is that when you speak more than one language you need to have the ability to differentiate between two distinct sets of rules and words, and this engages latant part of the brain not found in non bilingual people. Your grey matter is denser and thinker. Bilingualism has a particularly positive effect on the frontal lobe. This region is almost by definition the area that is responsible for human intellect." wow...good to know i won't get dementia because i am actually "trilingual" (german jawohl!). i guess i am smart. ???? :)

WiseWombat rated 10 months ago- this is fascinating.

MrsA rated 10 months ago- I agree and would go one further. In my gut, I feel babies start learning language in the womb. They hear their Momma talk and start familiarizing themselves with her voice.

eco070 rated 10 months ago- I am fluent in two languages, and able to "communicate in three". I believe that if you exposed your children to other languages they can learn other languages easier than if your learned them as adults.

- From the page: "Even under the age of one a baby understand grammar." Many people, however, fail to grasp simple grammar rules, even as adults.
