FlamingMetroidzd rated 10 days ago- So what's your point? Does not take a psychologist w/ phd to figure out that they want others to think they're worth more than they really are... Well, not in the sense of actual worth, just monetary. In any case, take heed: everyone is too worried about what others think. Don't waste your time trying to impress the others who aren't even paying attention to anything but themselves. Oh my! The white people do it too?!

commerican rated 7 weeks ago- I witnessed this phenomena in the old hood. It's part of the monkeygame, and it's also part of consumerism. You can tell where the threshold is by the nature of the display - if its unique, its monkeygame; if its just another copy of some designer shirt, its consumerism.

LafnLion rated 2 months ago- Economists at the University of Chicago did a study of the spending habits among different ethnic groups and found interesting reasons behind the perceived stereotypes.

Lauxa rated 2 months ago- Ostentatious spending signals a higher status than poorer peers. If you've got rich friends, you won't spend as much on "bling".

brandnwize1988 rated 3 months ago- The editors really know their material.

greenchair rated 3 months ago- From the page: "Critics accused him of reinforcing the stereotype that poor blacks - a group he clearly did not belong to - spent money on high-status goods instead of investing in their children's future." -- I didn't read the rest of the article, that snark was bad enough. Apparently, this author knows nothing about Cosby and how poor his family was when he was growing up. Cosby MADE his fortune, and he didn't do it by having his pants sagging off his ass and talking mush-mouth jive.
