From the page: 2.. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of 'need'. The people tend to 'look the other way' of... more

Useful for citizens to know what the characteristics of fascism are.

This IS reflective of the manifestation of American government. Americans DO live in under a fascist regime. Always have. Just so happens they are turning it up a notch or two at the current time. Our American government IS controlled by a family legacy that began in New York high society back in the 1600's and 1700's. This IS true. The American military DOES receive the majority of the tax dollars extorted from the American laborers. This military and the American police enforcers, more and more, ARE here to quell any uprising among the people, who ARE supposed to be the main focus of this supposedly 'democratic' government and society. The media IS majorly controlled by those in power and their corporate cronies. Dissenters are made to appear criminal, even if they are nothing of the sort. Fear tactics ARE used to control and gather the masses to support the tyrannical abuses of their government. Religion IS and HAS BEEN used to maintain control over the people through guilt and oppression. And, ALL past governmental leaders HAVE used God as their prop when they wanted to rally support for their wars of murder and death, which by the way violates the commandment that, "Thou shalt not kill". This is in direct conflict with the teachings of God and Jesus. Any time these people use God to justify their murders, it IS 'taking the Lord's name in vain' and blasphemy. God does NOT bless or condone murder. War serves to oppress the dissention by threat of violence and/or death. That IS murder. Teri Piper

This is as accurate with Bush as it is now with Obama. Different flavors, but they're still the same ol' ice cream...

This list is ridiculous. We have at least thirteen of these characteristics and are we fascists? Damn, I wonder if my brown shirt is in the dirty laundry? The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it comes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling private power.Franklin D. Roosevelt on fascism Delete this site from your blog? or

No it does not sound like the U.S. and the U.K. Too much history is conveniently ignored in the list. This list reads like a fortune cookie intended for the dull minded and the dissatisfied to latch on to as prophetic truth. Britt, let's be honest, the list is a sophomoric jab at the U.S. and a narrow minded desciption of the human condition itself. Making a list of 14 negative by-products of any successful civilization's attempt at governing itself is not an educated definition of fascism. With a few key words to get their attention, you have added yet another log on the fire of the under-educated malconts that impulsively latch onto anything that looks remotely ant-establishment all for the sake of fatal cool.
