mykey-one rated 6 days ago- I think If I'm ever anywhere close to this town, I will change my route....

ChellaAnn rated 7 days ago- Is the taser a tool for lazy cops? Three cops could not subdue an 82 year old man with recent bypass surgery who was delirious and holding a knife? No - three cops were just unwilling to be bothered with physically subduing him. I call that lazy.

sargt000 rated 7 days ago- i actually think this is one of the few news items about a taser where its use was actually warranted. he had a knife. i know someone in the hospital there, so i've heard the entire story. he was slashing at people. he was threatening to stab people. they tried for quite some time to talk him down. the security guards first, then the RCMP. he had a guy in a bed next to him. while i think that cops should always use physical force before a taser, in this case there WAS a weapon and a guy willing to use it. it was a better alternative than being shot. i'm wondering why/how the guy had a knife in the first place, hospital staff i would think should make sure people don't bring weapons into the hospital when they're checked in. luckily all's well that end's well, no one was hurt (well, he has some bruises and it freaked him out but at least he's alive) and though i'm so anti-taser in most cases, i think it was likely warranted here. i personally feel that a taser is used only when the only other option is a gun. there were a few cases over the last decade where delusional/drugged out guys had knives and were shot and killed by the police, because that's the risk you take when brandishing a weapon when the cops are in front of you. whether you're 82 or 22, a weapon is a weapon. so here, the taser did what it was supposed to: immobilize a violent person with a weapon with non-lethal means. and no, i'm not a cop, not a huge fan of cops, but they do have a job to do. i'm sad for this man that he's so delusional that he's violent, and i hope that his family can take the precautions to ensure he doesn't get weapons and is not a danger to himself or others again.

- Robert Dziekanski, a Polish immigrant, died in the arrivals lounge of the airport after being stunned by RCMP officers with a Taser on Oct. 14. News report John Peters, 68,and his wife Anne were delivering a free newspaper ... After the officer arrived he jolted him two times with a Taser, John Peters said, adding that he had raised his arm to defend himself. News report Transit police on SkyTrain stations in Metro Vancouver have used Taser stun guns on passengers who didn't pay the fare and tried to run away, CBC News has learned.Transit police have fired Tasers 10 times since January last year, and three cases involved non-violent suspects News report and now an 82 year old ailing bedridden man in a hospital !! Additional news report Hurry up...hurry up...hurry up...faster! Doesn't anyone have time and patience anymore? Are there no alternatives? *shakes head in disbelief*
