  • Capsule Inn Akihabara | hotel rooms in Tokyo Japan | unique accommodations

In Japan, there aren't any big taboos about sleeping outside (say, in a park or something). Now given the choice, short of rainy/freezing weather, would you rather sleep on a bench or in a claustrophobic capsule (that you had to pay for, mind you)? Hygiene isn't a problem, it's... more

Useful info about where to find a capsule inn in Akihabara. Is it really the only capsule hotel in that area?

It's a rather clever idea, even if this is old news.

Oh so this is how it looks like. Actually, I've seen this a couple of weeks ago. I never expected it to be like this. I've heard of this from one of the lowest scum I've known, he's such a big freaking heartless liar that I didn't believe that these capsules really existed... until now. Well what do you know... Might as well try this... someday soon...

So. many. practical issues here. Firstly, how do they clean these capsules? Is the air filtered, or shared between capsules? Is it easy and quick to get out in case of a disaster? If you're traveling with children or as a family, do you really want to be split into male/female "floors" and be caught in a public shower? I think the concept actually sucks, but it's worth pondering, so thumbs up.

Interested to try it. Not that keen on pigeon holes. Half price for a room is not bad. But what a saving since that's hardly half a regular room.
