StumblerAlex discovered 2 months ago- A story of apparent abuse of power by Montreal police. I'd like to hear the other side of the story, but from what I can tell from the article, the police seemed to be using their power to punish someone they didn't like.

- From the page: "Brendan Colin Jones, 25, was sitting on a park ledge on de Maisonneuve Blvd. just east of Berri St. At one point, he swung around southward and his feet were on grass behind the ledge. The Victoria native's ticket cited his offending behaviour as "using urban equipment for uses other than those intended."" $628 for sitting on a low lying wall that was intended to be sat on? Oh, no, its for the guy taking pictures of the cope sealing with underage drinkers.

robinbal rated 2 months ago- "Dozens were doing just that in the sun yesterday and ever since the park opened in 1992."

- It doesn't seem right that the city of Montreal, and by extension, the entire nation of Canada, be stuck with a reputation as a police state based on the alleged illegal harassment of just one citizen. I'm sure that there's more to this story than is being reported in this one transparently biased source. Common sense tells me that this is the persecuted party's point of view so I can only assume that the truth has been cleaned up to make it more palatable. Nevertheless, for the sake of society, it appears that the cop needs to be reprimanded and receive some basic training in civil rights.

onreact-com rated 2 months ago- Police state everywhere. In Montreal too.
