Almost prehistoric article, some of the information is still relevant, however there are many better articles on SOCKs connections which are up to date.

it doesn't need to be this complicated. find a proxy server, all problems will be resolved. here is a lit of proxy servers. good luck! http://www.publicproxyservers.com/page1.html
