- The whole idea of corporate ethics is an oxymoron. Corporations were invented to relieve managers from liability for their actions in the name of the corporation. Since you can't send a corporation to prison, only two punishments are available: corporate death and fines. If the profits are high enough, corporations will pay the going rate to do business as they like. When was the last time a corporation's eternal life was terminated in court?
