It really doesn't come any better - that's not to say that Kate Rusby Waterson, McCarthy, Maddy Prior, et al. are not in the genius category, but for me June Tabor is up there. Listen to her, and the hairs on the back of your neck prickle.

- June Tabor is my favourite English folk singer, bar none. She's magnificent - but she's not for everyone. "There's a mystery to her, a tantalising, broody, chilling presence in the way she delivers a bloody traditional ballad with curled lip and menacing tone." (http://www.greenmanreview.com/junetaboromnibus.html) All her albums are fantastic, but I particularly love Aleyn, Abyssinians, Against the Streams, Angel Tiger, A Quiet Eye and Rosa Mundi.
