randomcarp discovered 35 months ago- Was it a concrete eyesore or was it an aesthetically interesting example of 60's architecture? Beauty's in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

- The Tricorn was utterly and irredeemably awful. It was a disgrace to Portsmouth's architectural character, and that's saying something. The structure's unpopularity was nothing to do with its latter-day neglect, although that certainly didn't help: it was its monstrous scale, brutal ugliness, tawdry banality and inhuman arrogance that did for it. This is an interesting and thoughtful site, however.

- As 60's architecture goes this maybe warrants saving because it has certain redeeming qualities, the principal being - don't do buildings like this again please
