twochris rated 34 months ago- Check out these journals! They are scanned in and you can search them, or browse them. I did a quick search on "dogs" in the Gentleman's Magazine and it came up with a list of texts that had that word in it.

kawakawakid rated 17 months ago- An astounding collection of scanned journals from the 17th and 18th Centuries. Within minutes, I was reading reasoned yet patriotic analysis of the reign of Elizabeth I and poetry by Colly Cibber (the Pam Ayres of his day).

jinky rated 35 months ago- wow, i've been looking for 'gentleman's magazine' from 1733 for ages. excellent advice on shoving children up chimneys
topyli rated 35 months ago- Now I know why my old girlfriend was entertaining two lovers at the same time: The Gentlemen's Magazine clearly licenses a woman to do so, if neither of the lovers has agreeably proposed to her! I did her such wrong by being sour.
