- The 'McYoga' that can save America. A video here that explains it all: http://www.bikramyoga.com/60mins.mov Yoga Inc. - a Q&A with filmmaker John Philp http://toronto.untilmonday.com/story/yoga_inc_john_philp I am watching Yoga, Inc. (2006) on the documentary channel and it got me thinking... I see American 'culture' as having many sacred cows. Hollywood, F_cksNews, The Pepsi Generation, Reality programming, American Gladiators, American Idol, the worship of the almighty dollar etc the list goes on. Yoga may be the only answer for their required evolution, so unfortunately incorporating such truth, no matter how tainted, into their cooperative 'culture' is important as America still is a power hungry powerhouse. Getting some of this, on to the media; even on the reality programming is beneficial. It is positive, enjoyable and healthier than the alternative the American population has become accustomed to, and comfortable with. It may be scary for one to step out of a comfort zone, to know the truth... but knowledge is power. "Let not the fruit of action, be thy motive." Bhagavad-Gita When Indian Yoga was eventually brought into the Western civilization, the rigid differences of cultural truths has unfortunately misconstrued much of that pure Indian Sanatana Dharma. We all have many different personal spiritual paths of growth to access Transcendental Consciousness; and the world and all it's truths has opened up via the world wide web and beyond. It is all as it should be... Yoga will find it's own path. Marketing Yoga: Chakra panties..? http://www.youtube.com/v/LgXFsxknLao&rel=1&border=1 I disagree. Yoga is a spirituality, a way of life... not a marketing gimmick. Copyright Yoga...? I disagree. http://www.youtube.com/v/Arc5Gq6zkI8&rel=1 Yoga belongs to us as a humanity beginning with the Indians and their humble translations. The Indian Brahmins, Yogis and Gurus are beginning to allow unlimited access to their ancient texts online. There will be no copyrights on Ancient Hindu Texts. Oum can not be a copyright. God is not a trademark. All is shared. All is One. The word Yoga is a sanskrit word meaning 'Union' Can you imagine the Pope, the Prez, or Falwell, if the media tried copyrighting text from the bible? Stop disrespecting others traditions and twisting them to suit your so called 'culture'. And so in the end of my evaluating, once again I seem to be on everyone's side... Americans require India's spirituality for their advancement, but it is up to India to share and not to have Truth, Culture, and Dharma snatched by power hungry egos and civilizations and manipulated to suit. http://www.bikramyoga.com/Bikram.htm The 'yogi' who wants to copyright 'HIS' yoga poses he is using derived from ancient vedic texts. Where is his sense of detachment? "For thousand of years, particularly in the East, 'detachment' has been a positive word, connoting the ability to find happiness beyond the play of pleasure and pain. In the West, however, our intense fixation on achieving material goals has made detatchment into a negative word, associated with indifference, apathy, and non-involvement." Deepak Chopka. Looks to me like Bikram's ego has got the better of him, and he has become 'Americanized'. Peace in your path to all, PiTrinam
