There are lots of projects you can contribute your proccessor time too using BIONC. Personally I like to back anything the BBC does, and furthermore I don't think we yet grasp what we have done to the enviroment and how it is going to effect us.

Join this climate change prediction experiment. It harnesses your computer using a screensaver programme, which looks a similar idea to the SETI programme. The more the better! Update: - I have downloaded and it looks like SETI@home are involved with this.
