BBC's Reith Lecture series is probably the most high-end educational radio program you can hear on the internet, for free!

Excellent series of downloadable lectures, great material for running distraction, on science, economics, philosophy, development (forget the sustainable part, the two seem to contradict each other), etc. More generally, Radio 4 has lots of good downloadable programs, such as "From our own Correspondent".

One more in the "remember to make time for" department...

These have now been going for over 50 years. A celebrated thinker is chosen each year from a wide variety of fields. Now a selection of past lectures have been archived, so you can now listen to Bertrand Russell, Prof J K Galbraith or Dr Steve Jones amongst others. Also worth catching is last year's lecturer, Nobel Prize-winning poet and playwright Wole Soyinka talking about the climate of fear around the world.
