alexknibb rated 18 months ago - My name is Sam Tyler. I had an accident and woke up in 1973. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time?
For those unfortunate sods who haven't seen this gem yet, it's about a police officer from 2006 who gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. He's still a policeman, but let's just...

leomin rated 12 months ago- Woah. That was an uncanny coincidence...
So I had been at the computer for about 15 minutes, just hitting the stumble button as usual. I was on some page about tips for a good business or something at the time... anyway, then suddenly I thought to myself "Oh yeah! I wanted to look up that John Simm guy..." I had seen him in Doctor Who, so I thought I would. Without really thinking, i just hit the stumble button, and this page is where I landed! I was like... "Oh my gosh..." freak coincidence I say! If I ever get the time to see "Life on Mars" I'll make sure I watch it.
diceydog rated 14 months ago- Yow, that was some _great_ drama (with some nice touches of black comedy). There's at least one easy-to-find comprehensive selection of excerpts from all 16 episodes; you really should see this drama in any way you can... (And no skipping around; trust me on this!)
"The Gene Genie (he screams and he moans); let yourself go." Then "My name is Sam Tyler, ..." and you're hooked. I can barely wait for the Region-1 boxset to be released.
I predict the upcoming made-in-the-USA version to be relatively dismal, like that for _The Office_. The Beeb version is the one you want.

For those unfortunate sods who haven't seen this gem yet, it's about a police officer from 2006 who gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. He's still a policeman, but let's just say things are done differently in his new team... ;)
This is, put simply, the finest drama the BBC have produced. I could vomit out superlatives, but you should really check it out. Suspense, black comedy, action, nostalgia, excellent character development...
They've announced a US version in the pipeline. Um. Historically, UK shows that make their way across the Atlantic are roundly ruined (yes, I've seen the US version of The Office, and no, I thought it was rubbish), but I think a US version of Life On Mars could be pretty good. Think Quantum Leap meets Starsky and Hutch. :)
Check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed. I'd also be keen to find out what any yanks think of this if you've seen it...
*** UPDATE: http://goluan.stumbleupon.com kindly provided me with a link to watch this online. If you'd like it, please drop me a line. I won't publish it, because that's a bit iffy. If you like the show, please buy the DVDs. This is a series worth showing your support for ;) ****

With there being so little worth watching on TV this program really stands out, catch it if you can.
