Thumbs down for the clear incompetence of the author. Chomsky explains very early on that he lacks the technical expertise to evaluate an engineering analysis of the WTC collapse. The author's response is basically that the article is written so clearly that anyone can understand it, certainly someone as intelligent as Chomsky!Did you hear the woosh of the point flying over your head, Mr. Barrett? There's a difference between knowing what a word means and evaluating the validity of a scientific argument.I'm sure Chomsky is capable of understanding the engineering document, but he recognizes that he is unable to differentiate between the valid arguments and the tripe because he lacks the specialized knowledge necessary to form an educated opinion on the article. In other words, Chomsky is being intellectually honest. In contrast, the author acknowledges that he has no engineering background, but seems perfectly content to pass judgment on complex issues of engineering because he fails to comprehend the difference between understanding what a writer is saying and intelligently commenting on it. "while I find it fairly easy to understand, despite my lack of training in relevant fields."Consider his statement that in 100 years, no skyscraper has ever collapsed like the towers did, outside of controlled demolitions. Even a fourth grader could figure out what happened! Certainly only a fourth grader would jump to such conclusions. The first thought that crossed my mind was: "Well, how many skyscrapers in that 100 year history were hit with massive passenger jets?"The author is also flummoxed that beams were sent upward, despite the fact that "things fall down." If only life were so simple. I'm certain if the readers of this comment gave it some thought, they could see how the countless tons of steel crashing into the earth might have sent some girders flying into the air. Finally, I admit I was biased almost from the very start. Chomsky very early on wrote: "On the substantive matters, I'd first like to make clear that this is a personal letter, not to be distributed." Well, anything for a few website hits, right?

This is a bit long, but well worth the read for those who care about the 9/11 Truth. Read it to know more about the side of Noam Chomsky that he doesn't reveal often: a disinformation agent. From the page: Only the full exposure of 9/11 truth - the truth that 9/11 was a false-flag attack designed to demonize Muslims and justify their mass murder, while destroying liberty and militarizing society - will undo all this damage, and then some. Full exposure of 9/11 truth will enrage Americans, who will demand that the military-industrial complex and its national security state be destroyed once and for all. It will enrage them into slashing the military budget by more than 90% and returning to a "defend the borders" rather than "conquer the world" posture. It will enrage them into demanding a return to Constitutional rule. It will enrage them into cutting US ties to Israel, and thereby restoring good relations with the Muslim peoples of the oil-producing lands. For some reason, Chomsky does not seem to want this to happen. Why not? Read our correspondence, and the rest of Chomsky's writings on 9/11, along with "The Shame of Noam Chomsky and the Gatekeepers of the Left" in Barrie Zwicker's Towers of Deception...and see if you can figure it out. Maybe it will seem obvious to you, "so simple a five-year-old child could understand it." Well, to quote Groucho, please find me a five-year-old child, because I can't make heads or tails of it.
