- I've always felt the question: "Can God create a rock that he can't lift?" was a logical fallacy and certainly doesn't disprove the existence of god.
The question is rephrased: Can [Omnipotent being] create a [rock that [Omnipotent being] cannot lift]? If we assume there is an omnipotent being (certainly a big assumption!), then the answer is clearly no with no logical repercussions.
An omnipotent being can create a rock of any size, and can lift a rock of any size. The reason the the question is answered in the negative is because [rock that [Omnipotent being] cannot lift] is a contradiction in terms. It is like saying: God cannot be omnipotent because he cannot create rock that is not rock.
Omniscience vs. free will is a good example of a real contradiction. No need to water the article down with false ones. Atheism has logical rigor and science on its side. We should not resort to cheap semantics in order to prove a point.
