This is a rather sad (rail)road to nowhere. This railway was built in Russia by political prisoners, but was abandoned before it was completed. About 400 miles were completed by 80,000 prisoners over five years at a cost of $10Billion (1950$), yet what they ended with was a worthless pile of scrap and a lot of wasted lives. It seems such a Sisyphean task to give your life to a such a pointless and futile effort, but I am sure these men are not the first or the last to suffer this fate.

For the History... Great Rustbucket! It was between the year's of 50's & 60's that Russia abandoned it's construction using slave labor. This area has been given several names, such as one... "DEAD ROAD"
