ntltrmllgnc rated 17 months ago- the beauty is of course that the American Insurrection (the Civil War was more of a revolution) forced everyone to wake up and ask "Where are we?" on a political, practical, and personal level. The Anti-Federalists quickly realized that government isn't magical and needed explicit restraints. They however had too much faith in the average person. The Federalists provided the means of choking power by creating naturally competing forces within the goverment, the three branches.
Without the two this machine could never work. It's a pity that Hamilton was such a centralist, but just the same you have Jefferson who wanted a revolution every 20 years. As a compromise it does seem that a purging and replacement of the lords of power every 25 years, but through the mechanisms of government, is warranted.- the beauty is of course that the American Insurrection (the Civil War was more of a revolution) forced everyone to wake up and ask "Where are we?" on a political, practical, and personal level.
