PiTrinam discovered 14 months ago- Shut out the violent voices so you can think By Molouk Y. Ba-Isa FOR weeks I have wished that I could just go to bed on Sept. 10 and wake up on Sept. 12. Seem impossible? If I never heard another word about the events of Sept. 11, I'd be truly grateful. I'm selfish. I know it. I don't care. I've had enough. My soul is tired and I don't think I can absorb any more pain. I was born an American and I became a Saudi. Thirty years ago I participated in Mass in Latin. Once in a while, even now, the words to an "Our Father" or a "Hail Mary" still dance through my brain. As a Muslim, these days I pray in Arabic. Often, I find the experience as frustrating now, as it was when I was seven. For a year I've asked God to help me understand the events of Sept. 11. I haven't received any inspiration. I can view Sept. 11 from so many different perspectives, but I can't find any good anywhere. Sept. 11 was a collective experience and it taught us all one thing. We learned how to hate better than ever. I was sitting here last week trying to remember the names of those involved in the events of that day and I was sickened to realize that I could only conjure up hijackers and politicians. The global media's quest to cover the event has highlighted the guilty and shrouded the innocent and the true heroes. That shouldn't be surprising. Hatred sells."
