From the page: "We want clean air, clear water, good living conditions, the best health care in the world - yet we aren't willing to pay for anything manufactured under those restrictions."

It is amazing to see how this retailer works. The movie about it was excellent. I can see why many communities don't want them around.

This article takes an in depth look at the business practices of retailing icon, Wal*Mart. While some readers are certain to use the article as a reason to bash the company, there are some positive aspects of dealing with the retailing giant: if you are a supplier you will learn work harder, faster and smarter. The downside is obvious: lost American jobs and a decrease in the profit line for some companies, even bankruptcy if they cannot keep up with the Wal*Mart business model. In the end, are we benefiting from Wal*Mart's way of doing business or slowly killing ourselves off?

Are we shopping our way straight to the unemployment line? now im not one of these anti-walmart hippy's who thinks they are evil or anything but i thought this was an interesting read and far better than your typical 'stop walmart' sites so i just had to thumb it up.

I hate Wal-mart. And here's a little info for those who think Wal-mart works on "micro-margins." I sell furniture for a living and i used to have a shop that sold Sauder brand furniture (that stuff that comes in a box). i sold everything at a 1.7 markup (a healthy furniture mark) I beat them in price (and i'm sure they paid less than me) on almost everything. One in five items they would sell for less than what i paid, but on all the others they charged more. it's all smoke and mirrors.
