Thanks "Westerner." If you're going to "hook-up" with a life partner, try your utmost best to make it work out. It's like any other form or expression of integrity, proving what one is truly made of.

What I like the most in this article: " Looking into the eyes of the person you admire most in the world only heightens the physical sensation of sex. Looking into the eyes of a stranger only takes away from it. Your attitude towards monogamy makes you confront the question of which you want more. "

A solid and substantial article on monogamy.

Struggled to get much past half way with this I'm afraid, dolphins haven't been to the moon therefore humans don't, or shouldn't, respond to the "animal" aspect of their sexuality? Like a previous reviewer I'd recommend Sperm Wars by Rob Baker and also The Red Queen by Matt Ridley for a deeper, more informative take on the evolutionary aspects of human sexual behaviour. Both are easier to follow if you've read Dawkins' The Selfish Gene.Be careful of "married people are 95% more X and 50% less Y" type statements also, "60% of single women reach the age of sixty-five, whereas 95% of married women do" - mortality rates of younger people will bring down the average life expectancy of non married people by quite a margin. None of that 95% will be under the age of 16 or 18 so the average lifespan will be higher. Deaths of those under 30 or 40 who've not had a chance to marry will drag the average down for non married people.

Personally I'm all for monogamy but I found this judgemental and ignorant.
